CASA Volunteer of the Quarter
Congratulations to John Oelkers CASA’s Volunteer of the Quarter!!
John completed volunteer advocate training in June of 2009 and quickly began advocating for two siblings. Since John took over his case his CASA children have been in multiple placements and had to change school districts three times. During a recent court hearing while the DYFS contemplated another change for the children, John was a strong advocate to keep them in their current placement. John takes an active approach to ensure that the children’s needs are being met educationally. He and the foster mother worked diligently to have one of the children evaluated by the Child Study Team. He regularly attends school meetings with the foster mother and keeps in close contact with teachers and other school officials.
In addition to being a wonderful advocate, John is a member of CASA’s Educational Advocacy Council, assists in new volunteer training and always turns his timesheets in on time! We are very grateful to John and commend him on all his efforts on behalf of the children and the CASA community.
